Hi, unfortunately, this gives "yes" too:
  debpc:#  if [ -n "`df /mnt | grep -ie /dev/crap`" ]; then echo yes; fi
I think the strong quotes result in a fixed literal string:
  `df /mnt | grep -ie /dev/crap`
