Be cool ;-)

The alsa modules are usually found in /lib/modules/`uname -r`/alsa!

The best way to get alsa working is to install alsa-source. Keep in
mind to hve the kernel-source available in /usr/src/linux. After
installing alsa-sources you have to tar -xzvf
/usr/etc/alsa-source.tar.gz. The driver source will be placed in
/usr/src/moeules. After do a make-kpkg image _modules. After
compiling the drivers will be in /lib/modules/`uname -r`/alsa.

If you didn't compiled your kernel by yourself, you can install
alsa-modules-yourversion-yourarchitecture. Be aware of the
snd-yourcard vs snd-card-yourcard problem!

If you are using alsaconf (ver. 0.5) please notice that the modules
in /etc/alsa/modutiles will be snd-card-your card. You have to edit
the modutils to snd-yourcard, because alsa 0.9xxx uses the new ones.
Don't forget to run update-modules after!

Have Fun
