A solução é simples... se o kernel gera essa mensagem
abaixo significa que o Virtual File System não
consegue fazer chamadas no FS propriamente dito, isso
gera um problema porque não vai poder criar os
processos (no caso o init e um outro que não me lembro
o nome) para poder gerenciar o sistema.
O seu problema é justamente esse... não existe outro,
o problema é do sistema de arquivo. Geralmente a
solução é compilar o kernel como build-in (acho que é
assim que se escreve) o sistema de arquivo que você
está usando na sua partição.
Poste na lista, a configuração do seu kernel na parte
de sistema de arquivos para podermos ver o que você
marcou de errado ou o que falta.

Ps.: já ouvi falar de problemas com má configuração do
grub como inicializador do kernel. Mas quanto a isso,
só ouvi falar na net.
