Caro Orlando, Compile o kernel, e procure na sessão "Generic SCSI", ou algo parecido, por "tape" torne-o bult-in, faça isso também com as opções SCSI genéricas.
Já configurei servidores com Linux com DAT, DLT e sempre funcionou desta forma.
