no xorg.conf (na parte do Device), vc põe o Driver "ati".... e na parte DRI (se naum existir), vc põe Section "DRI" Mode 0666 EndSection se vc quiser usar a aceleração 3d dela, provavelmente, ainda vai ter q dar uma mexida no xorg.conf.... eu to te mandando o meu xorg aqui de casa pra vc dar uma olhada... Recomendo que você use etch e use os drivers fglrx do non-free.
Ou então use os drivers livres da ATI, eles costumam funcionar muito
bem.
