Hi, [ I hope debian-testing is the most appropriate list for this - I figured gtk-gnome was more for active development. ]
To compare Gnome on a Debian system with Red Hat's new Fedora Core 1, I recently installed the testing "sarge" release for the first time. Having rid myself of the KDE hangovers from a "desktop" task selection, I manually added enough Gnome packages for a usable desktop. So far I like what I see - it feels snappy and looks good too. However the one big sticking point is Evolution. I notice an old release is available for stable "woody", and a newer one for unstable "sid", but there doesn't appear to be anything available for sarge. To use either of the available packages has some pretty severe dependency implications. I tried following instructions to rebuild the latest source, but that too requires a bunch of missing build dependencies. What's up? Is there some problem I'm not aware of that makes Evolution difficult on sarge? Cheers, Sean. -- Sean Atkinson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Netproject
