Bug #218344 (and others) were fixed on 10 November in version 1.54+20031110-1, according to the bug logs. Testing still has 1.54+20031017-1, so no, this isn't fixed in testing yet. Even in the normal course of events four days would not be long enough for a new version of a package to reach testing [1], but this one is also waiting for a new version of glibc, so it'll be a while.
