I was able to choose my preferred language (first try with us english), a few installer modules were loaded then a red background was shown with a message about that the integrity check for pcmcia-cs-udeb and the choices "go back" and "proceed". I think we should add a short explanation what "integrity check failed" means here. Since it's a workstation I'm installing on I don't need pcmcia, so I chose to continue. The list with possible next steps in the progress was a bit confusing as I don't want to use network to install the system and it took me a minute to realize that the next logical step is to "mount the cd" and "install the base system", but that wasn't obvious, there should be some hint about what the next step in the installation might be. At this point I realized that I never chose a partition to install on and the installer never asked me to partition a hard disk, I don't know ATM where it is installing on ;) Ok, I rebootet the machine to try again, this time using German as the language. In the first few steps of the installer a lot messages haven't been translateds, but that's ok for a beta. Suddenly, a warning pops up about dhcp, a bad translation of "please try again". Strange. That didn't show up the first try... After pressing continue I was presented the main menu and again it was confusing about what to do next. Choosing "partition a hard disk" brings a list of hard disks in devfs-notation, but trying to partition one of them leads to an error message in, I think, dutch or so, about that partition this harddisk is imposssible. Pressing enter brings up this list again, but this time I was able to choose the harddisk and cfdisk comes up. After partitioning the "partition a hard disk" box comes up again, I think here it's better to jump to the main menue again. Pressing finish then takes me to a screen with a non-moving progress bar titled "configuring the network with dhcp, this may take a few minutes", waiting at least 2 minutes takes me back to the main menu... The mount partition dialog is nice, BUT there are WAY to many possible choices: finish/cancel in the box with the partitions AND back/continue at the bottom, this is confusing (like those windows installer programs stating "press 'continue' to finish the installation" there are only buttons for "back" and "continue" ;)! The same goes for the question box "ready to create filesystems and mount?", there are 3 choices but only 2 would make sense, additionally the order in which these 3 choices can be reached via the arrow keys is confusing. Again, the dhcp-discovery box was show. This turns to be annoying since I don't want to install via net, never chose to use dhcp and see no way to cancel it apart from doing nothing for a minute. Annoying, too, is the default cursor placement in the main menue, every time it is shown up the cursor is placed at "configure the network via dhcp". Choosing "install the base system" seems to install on the hard drive. Suddenly, AGAIN, the dhcp-box was shown and the cursor was placed on "configure the network via dhcp" in the main menu. Next I tried "install the kernel", and AGAIN the dhcp box shows up... Installing GRUB works, but shows the dhcp-box again. I saved all the logs in /var/log at this point, they are attached to this bugreport. Hitting "finish the installation and reboot" ejects the cd and after confirming the warning box. GRUB installation works, the kernel comes up. The system hangs while the dhcp client I never wanted tries to get an ip, then base-config welcomes me in english, but the next screen is in german, nice! Here the configuration works great, apart from a few not-yet-translated questions, and the normal configuration work begins.
