Hi Axel! grub2 upstream has received many fixes and enhancements from Oracle engineers for SPARC such that your issue has most likely been resolved already. However, since Debian currently doesn't have a sparc (32-bit) port anymore, you would have to reinstall your UltraSPARC 10 with the sparc64 port which can be found in [1]. The grub2 package for sparc64 is currently an unofficial build as not all necessary patches have been merged by upstream yet, but we are making good progress on that matter. A backported patch with all the SPARC-specific fixes can be found in [2], but so far, Debian's grub2 maintainers have unfortunately not included my patch yet :(. On top of the SPARC patches, we also need to build grub2 with TARGET_CCASFLAGS := -fno-PIE on sparc and sparc64 [3].
