I'd suggest pointing them at WinSCP: http://winscp.com for a pointy-clicky scp/sftp client for Win32, and Fugu: http://rsug.itd.umich.edu/software/fugu/ for an OS X client, both of which are free and source available (fugu under a BSD-style licence, WinSCP under a similar licence to puTTY).
