suppose you have a file list like generated by find $BASEDIR -print

sort -u > tmp.rsync # sort and remove duplicates
# exclude evrything not explicitly included...
echo "- *" >> tmp.rsync
and do rsync -av --include-from tmp.rsync remote:$BASEDIR $LOCALTARGET
