My driver was a 8139too. As SNORT is a security related tool (active security) and the threats are changing from time to time the signatures have to be up to date as well as the tool itself. What about considering outdated security tools as hazardous to the system's security? Taking this point of view, why not distributing updated versions via debian-security?
