I have tried it with woody-woody, and I got no X forwarding.  Looking at 
/etc/ssh/sshd_config, X11Forwarding no was there.  After changing 
X11Forwarding yes and restarting /etc/init.d/ssh restart, and 
reconnecting, worked fine...
