I think I can safely say that it's not an overheating problem. The system has done much more than run web browsers (i.e. Unreal servers, etc) for over 2 years without similar problems.
It's reproduced when viewing a microsoft .asp or clicking between windows with a flash animation in one or both of them. I can probably reproduce it doing other tasks as well, but I haven't tried it.
