The .swp file is definitely not encrypted. Worse, it's not possible to disable using a swapfile when a vim session is already started: :set uc=0 as described in the manual, does not work: $ strings .swp b0VIM 5.6 wouter daria U3210#"! bla blie boe And this is after I opened a new vim session and set uc=0. And of course after I typed "bla blie boe". Wouter
