Hi Daniel, there is obviously a name clash between: - the Debian Science project, as started in July 2005 (lists.debian.org/msgid-search/[email protected]), that aims at being a information and discussion place for scientists using Debian, and a place to develop the Debian Science blend. - the debian-science group on Alioth (http://alioth.debian.org/projects/debian-science), that is mostly used to host packages. The group policy prepared by Manuel is a tool for people using the debian-science group on Alioth and who are interesting in letting their packaging workflow converge in order to ease the exchange and help on each other's package. There is of course no intention to dictate anything to the maintainers of the packages that are recommended by the metapackages of the Debian Science blend. I hope it clarifies. Perhaps the debian-science policy can be renamed "Alioth debian-science repository packaging policy", or something in the same spirit but more readable, if you think that the current title is too misleading. I would like to take the opportunity to thank Manuel for his work. I am sure that the group policy he prepares will increase the long-term sustainability of the packaging effort made on Alioth to provide programs for the Debian Science blend !
