If possible, # start the portmapper before mounting (this is needed for # Linux 2.1.x and up).
и вообще почему-то pump & mountnfs живут в rcS.d а portmap в rc2.d вобщем такое ощущение, что что-то то ли не запущено еще, то ли запрещено (посмотри в /etc/hosts.allow на тему portmap: localhost: allow ,у фаервола спроси еще...) попробуй rpcinfo -p [localhost|otherhost]
