Short answer: That patch to fix architecture-is-64-bit is small, and I was planning to backport it to 2.8.3. https://github.com/gjtorikian/commonmarker/commit/ aa268bd10cdd9b342734d1dd19edd6eb7cfae301 Long answer: 2.9.0 contains a breaking change that needs rust-comrak to be upgraded from 0.52.0 to 0.54.0. https://github.com/gjtorikian/commonmarker/pull/472 I haven’t looked at this closely enough to see if this is a breaking change for programs that use ruby-commonmarker, but it is possible it is. Upstream redmine 6.1.3 (currently packaged) uses ruby-commonmarker ~> 2.3.0. I am patching the Gemfile to use ~> 2.8.3. This appears to work (nothing in the changelog indicates a breaking change, redmine compiles, autopkgtests pass, manual testing hasn’t encountered any problems). It is possible that redmine would work with 2.9.0, but we wouldn’t know for sure until we went through all the effort to update rust-comrak and ruby-commonmarker. Ruby-commonmarker has other problems preventing migration, like ruby-html-pipeline, which I noticed you are already working on. I was planning to patch ruby-commonmarker to enable building on 32bit. I should have time to do this in the next few days, but if you have time now you are welcome to do it first. > Let me know what your thoughts are. As a side note, Redmine 6.1.3 uses rails 7.2.3.1. Redmine 7.0.0 uses rails 8.1.3.1 (but still ruby-commonmarker 2.8.2). I’m not sure if we have had a discussion about whether or not we want to upgrade to rails 8.1 before the forky release, but if we do redmine is ready for it.
