It is OK to use, yes. Even though I gave it pretty decent testing, it is still sort of experimental, so if you use that please make sure the resulting package actually works, and please report any issues you find to the BTS. Depending on how it goes, I plan to make dh-make-ruby generate packages that use that layout by default, probably for stretch+1.
