I think we should fix this. People will still hit it on upgrades to jessie otherwise. Also, I'm planning on pushing 0.99.2 to wheezy-lts soon and inflicting this same pain on LTS users doesn't make sense, so I'd like to include it there (and as a result, I think it's very important to get it into Jessie to avoid regressions on upgrade).
