Thanks! My reading of the upstream changelog is that there shouldn't be any breaking API changes introduced. I've test-built a sample of the reverse deps (closure-compiler, cubemap, mosh, mumble, pink-pony, protobuf-c, zbackup) by hand and there were no build issues. I will upload protobuf 2.5.0-5 to unstable shortly.
