Hi, on our road to GNOME 3.2, we'd like to start the gnome-desktop3 transition now. The libgnome-desktop library had a soname bump libgnome-desktop-3.so.0 → libgnome-desktop-3.so.2. Packages build-depending on libgnome-desktop-3-dev: cheese eog evolution gnome-control-center gnome-panel gnome-screensaver gnome-settings-daemon gnome-shell nautilus nautilus-open-terminal All those packages can be binNMUed. I test built those packages against libgnome-desktop-3-dev 3.2.1-2, and the all build fine aside from evolution, which currently FTBFS for other reasons. I've filed a bug for that [1]. We have three other packages dependending on libgnome-desktop-3-0: tracker-miner-evolution evolution-rss evolution-exchange This is due to evolution-shell-3.0.pc having Requires: gnome-desktop-3.0 in its pkgconfig file. It looks like this dependency can be marked as private, so I filed [2]. This means once we have a fixed evolution package, we can binNMU those three packages (in advance) so they drop the libgnome-desktop-3-0 dep. Would be great if we can start the transition as soon as possible. Michael, on behalf of the Debian GNOME team.
