I made this additional small change:
override_dh_auto_install:
ifneq (,$(findstring libmlpost-ocaml-doc,$(shell dh_listpackages)))
- $(MAKE) doc
+ $(MAKE) doc HOME=$(shell mktemp -d)
endif
and then it worked (with sbuild), so I finally did the upload.
