Package: debootstrap Version: 0.2.39 I'm filing this bug to request that libfribidi0 be added to the base package list for sid/sarge. This package must be part of the base system in order for debconf to be localized into Hebrew and Arabic, because slang1a-utf8 must depend on it for RTL text to display correctly. I'm requesting this change pre-emptively, so that it might be possible to add bidi/shaping support to slang for sarge without disrupting the debian-installer testing process.
A patch is now available to add bidirectional text and glyph shaping support for slang, and I'm hoping to be able to include it in d-i itself soon; it therefore doesn't seem premature to raise the question of supporting bidi in the installed system. -- Steve Langasek postmodern programmer
