I'd appreciate an update on the sarge release plans / status as well. I do feel the need to clarify the GNOME status though.

It doesn't even affect sid and thus we retain the means to fix both RC and non-RC bugs in GNOME 2.4, which is exactly what we should do near a release. GNOME 2.6 won't go into sid until it's complete and has undergone reasonable testing and isn't likely to delay sarge's release (either because sarge has already been released or because sarge's release for whatever reason is no longer expected to be feasible in the short term).
