Bug#197516, against auto-pgp, describes a bug which renders the package nearly unuseable. A key component, the passphrase agent `pgp-pixie', does not work at all with the Perl in current stable.
The patch I supplied changes only pgp-pixie and fixes only that bug. The maintainer, Dirk Eddelbuettel <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, has applied the patch and built a new version auto-pgp 1.04-7 and uploaded it to unstable. (This version is linked against a newer libc than that in stable so should not be installed there.) I suggested in my report that since the package is virtually unuseable without this fix, the new version should go into stable. Dirk was unsure whether such an upload to stable would be appropriate and whether it would be accepted. So, can you confirm that since this fix to auto-pgp meets the requirements in the Developers' Reference 5.1 http://www.debian.org/doc/developers-reference/ch-pkgs.en.html#s-upload-stable namely that it fixes a critical functionality problem, the fix should go into stable ? If so I or Dirk will prepare an appropriate upload for stable. If not please explain what I'm missing. Thanks, Ian.
