I agree with that (but who am I...) But IF it's going to be 2.2, don't forget that /etc/debian_version in the base-files package has to be updated also. I didn't see that in the "TODO" list, so I thought I'd better mention it ;-) IIRC, 1.3.1 still had 1.3 in /etc/debian_version, so if it's going to be 2.1.1, there seems no need to update base-files.
