Hi release team, I just noticed that util-linux 2.12p-4 is now in testing - somewhat unexpectedly for me, since the last discussion on -release seemed to conclude that updating it was out of question.
loop-aes-utils 2.12p-4 has been held out of testing as it depends on versions of mount (>=2.12p-1) that use libblkid, which I added in order to keep both packages synced for sarge. The difference now in upstream versions between util-linux and loop-aes-utils is suboptimal for a number of reasons: - Bugs fixed in mount between 2.12a and 2.12p resurface if users install loop-aes-utils 2.12a-3 - Security updates are probably complicated by having two different upstream versions of setuid /bin/mount. - Translations from util-linux-locales 2.12p may not apply to the code from 2.12a. loop-aes-utils 2.12p-4 is the same as the mount parts of util-linux 2.12p-4, modulo the loop-AES patch. It should be identical to it in terms of non-crypto bugs and features. The current version has been in unstable for 47 days with no bugs reported against it, and for above reasons, I would like to ask you to make a freeze exception for this package. thanks, Max
