Package: kdevelop512-libs
Version: 4:23.08.1-2
Severity: serious
User: debian-...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: time-t

Hi Pino,

Analysis of the archive for the 64-bit time_t transition[0][1] identifies
kdevelop512-libs as an affected package, on the basis that the headers could
not be compiled and analyzed out of the box using abi-compliance-checker[2],
so we have to assume it's affected.

However, kdevelop512-libs's shlibs file declares a dependency on a library
package name that contains no ABI information:

$ cat DEBIAN/shlibs
libKDevPlatformDebugger 512 kdevelop512-libs (>= 4:23.08.1)
libKDevPlatformDocumentation 512 kdevelop512-libs (>= 4:23.08.1)
libKDevPlatformInterfaces 512 kdevelop512-libs (>= 4:23.08.1)
libKDevPlatformLanguage 512 kdevelop512-libs (>= 4:23.08.1)
libKDevPlatformOutputView 512 kdevelop512-libs (>= 4:23.08.1)
libKDevPlatformProject 512 kdevelop512-libs (>= 4:23.08.1)
libKDevPlatformSerialization 512 kdevelop512-libs (>= 4:23.08.1)
libKDevPlatformShell 512 kdevelop512-libs (>= 4:23.08.1)
libKDevPlatformSublime 512 kdevelop512-libs (>= 4:23.08.1)
libKDevPlatformUtil 512 kdevelop512-libs (>= 4:23.08.1)
libKDevPlatformVcs 512 kdevelop512-libs (>= 4:23.08.1)
$

It is therefore not obvious that we should rename the package to
'kdevelop512-libs-t64' as part of this transition.

Looking at the archive, there are packages that depend on these libraries
built from other source packages, kdevelop-php and kdevelop-python.

Since there is no self-evident thing to do with the library package name
here, we will not be handling this package as part of the mass NMUs.
Instead I am filing a serious bug because partial upgrades from bookworm to
trixie on 32-bit architectures will result in ABI skew and may result in
broken behavior.

Thanks,

control: fixed -1 4:24.12.0-1

With the Qt6 port shipped in 4:24.12.0-1 all the libraries got a soname bump so
I’m closing this bug.

Thanks,
