Are you sure the bug is present in KDE_3_3_BRANCH? http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90967 I recompiled the KDE_3_3_1_RELEASE earlier to check and it had the bug. So I have the opposite results for b). See bugreport for my investigation.
