Just installed arts and its libs, as well as the newer QT it depends on, and after logout && login music is still playing fine in kaffeine. Also tried kaboodle and arts control panel, and everything works so far. I have the arts plugins from kdemultimedia installed, but I have no idea if they are being used (AFAIK kaboodle should).
