woohoo, you are absolutelly right, sorry, I reported two bug at the same time yesterday and it seems I made a confusion between their severity. Sorry again. > The last update of konqueror, was on 2004-04-11, so probably you changed > something in the configuration. That's what I thought first, but I have the same problem with a fresh new system user who just logged in. > I'm sorry, but I can't confirm this behaviour. With the default > configuration, writing a word in the location bar, and pressing return, > says that the URL is wrong Yes, you are right again, it doesn't proceed http://www.<a_word>.com but http://<a_word>. (I definitelly shouldn't report two bugs at the same time). > and selecting google as a preferred search > engine, performs a google search. I've just made some more tests, some of them work, some others don't work. tests where word aren't searched with default engine : - debian - assiettes - fourchettes - girl - france - browser - security - bug - microsoft tests where words are searched with default engine : - mail - konqueror - debian konqueror - assiettes fourchettes - microsoft bug It seems that the search is always proceed when I write at least two words. It seems it nearly never works with only one word : I don't understand why it works with "konqueror" and "mail". Maybe it works with some other word, but I don't see any explanation for this strange behaviour. > Please, tell us exactly which string are you typing, and what is your > configuration: Settings -> Configure konqueror -> Web Shortcuts. The box "enable web shortcuts" is check. default search engine is google delimiter is ':' Below is the file ~/.kde/share/config/kuriikwsfilterrc : [$Version] update_info=kuriikwsfilter.upd:post-kde3.1/cvs [General] DefaultSearchEngine=google EnableWebShortcuts=true KeywordDelimiter=58 I hope it's not a problem from me, but since it has the same behaviour with new system user, I think it's not. I hope it helps.
