Installing directly into /etc/kde3 is not a good solution for the upstream "config" files since dpkg at various times decides not to install the config files at all, which completely breaks KDE. This has been the source of problems with KDE in Debian for a long time. However, I will bug upstream about the problem with respect to it not looking in kde-config --path config. Chris
