I found that it is not possible to play an mp3 email attachment with noatun. When starting noatun from command line (without &) it goes into daemon mode and the process spawned from the shell is terminated. If it is spawned from any mailcap aware mail program, the program believes that the application has finished and removes the file before noatun has read it.
