Over a slow link, this is really annoying. Sometimes, this causes the browser to freeze up until the timeout on the dns lookup is hit. Example: Type http://news.gggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg You should see a new packet for every 'g' if you use tcpdump on the link, and it may hang for a couple of seconds or even longer. Konqueror should probably wait until you press enter to see if the url is valid instead of looking at the partial results. --------------------------------------- Received: (at 194652-done) by bugs.debian.org; 30 Dec 2003 02:23:56 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Dec 29 20:23:56 2003 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from thumbler.kulnet.kuleuven.ac.be [134.58.240.45] by master.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.35 1 (Debian)) id 1Ab8un-0006MR-00; Mon, 29 Dec 2003 19:43:21 -0600 Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by thumbler.kulnet.kuleuven.ac.be (Postfix) with ESMTP id A2A1D138CD8 for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; Tue, 30 Dec 2003 02:43:20 +0100 (CET) Received: from antonius.kulnet.kuleuven.ac.be (antonius.kulnet.kuleuven.ac.be [134.58.240.73]) by thumbler.kulnet.kuleuven.ac.be (Postfix) with ESMTP id 38AF213848E for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; Tue, 30 Dec 2003 02:43:20 +0100 (CET) Received: from appel (domi.kotnet.org [10.0.57.168]) by antonius.kulnet.kuleuven.ac.be (Postfix) with ESMTP id 296004C0D1 for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; Tue, 30 Dec 2003 02:43:20 +0100 (CET) Received: from domi by appel with local (Exim 3.36 #1 (Debian)) id 1Ab8um-0003EC-00 for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; Tue, 30 Dec 2003 02:43:20 +0100 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: unreproducible From: Dominique Devriese <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Tue, 30 Dec 2003 02:43:20 +0100 Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> User-Agent: Gnus/5.1002 (Gnus v5.10.2) XEmacs/21.4 (Reasonable Discussion, linux) MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Sender: Dominique Devriese <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> X-Virus-Scanned: by KULeuven Antivirus Cluster Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.60-master.debian.org_2003_11_25-bugs.debian.org_2003_12_29 (1.212-2003-09-23-exp) on master.debian.org X-Spam-Status: No, hits=0.0 required=4.0 tests=none autolearn=no version=2.60-master.debian.org_2003_11_25-bugs.debian.org_2003_12_29 X-Spam-Level: I cannot reproduce this bug on Debian's KDE 3.1.4. cheers domi
