Greetings, I observed some minor issues when upgrading KDE from whatever's in unstable to the latest pre-release. FWIW, my notes:
<--snip--> [issue 1] ------------------------------------------------------------ kmail (4:3.4.0-0pre1) wouldn't install because kdebase-data (4:3.3.2-1) owns this file: /usr/share/icons/crystalsvg/scalable/apps/kmail.svgz Unfortunately, I did not keep the exact error text, but it was similar to the one in [issue 2], below. This error prevented most or all of the KDE upgrade from preconfiguring and installing. However, I did a `dpkg --force-depends -r kdebase-data` followed by an `aptitude dist-upgrade` and the problem went away. kmail old: 4:3.3.2-3 new: 4:3.4.0-0pre1 kdebase-data old: 4:3.3.2-1 new: 4:3.4.0-0pre3 [issue 2] ------------------------------------------------------------ I had a similar issue with kiten: Unpacking libkiten1 (from .../libkiten1_4%3a3.4.0-0pre1_i386.deb) ... dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/libkiten1_4%3a3.4.0-0pre1_i386.deb (--unpack): trying to overwrite `/usr/share/apps/kiten/radkfile', which is also in package kiten kiten old: 4:3.3.2-3 new: 4:3.4.0-0pre1 libkiten1 old: n/a new: 4:3.4.0-0pre1 I fixed it the same way as [issue 1]. [issue 3] ------------------------------------------------------------ Konsole fonts were different after the upgrade. They were smaller and paler. I manually re-adjusted, so it was not a big deal. I have my original konsolerc config file and some screenshots available on request. [issue 4] ------------------------------------------------------------ Not really an issue, but consider including a debian logo in /usr/share/apps/kdm/pics The "Login Manager" control panel defaults to this directory when letting users pick a logo for KDM's logon screen. <--snip--> Other than that, I've been using KDE for web-browsing and casual usage for the past 24 hours without any noticable problems. It's so fantastic to have KDE on the Debian platform... thanks for making it all possible! Cheers, Stephen A.
