The Debian archive seemingly has many packages that are hopelessly outdated by several upstream releases. While tracker.d.o/package does mention if a new upstream version has appeared, it doesn't e-mail the maintainer.

Hopefully the lack of such emails is not the main reason for having hopelessly outdated packages, as new releases are easily seen on a maintainer's DDPO page, which I would expect every active maintainer to regularly visit.
