Just to keep this list posted in case somebody is reading along, Roger has split the PostgreSQL debversion code into a separate repository [1], and has created packages which are in NEW at the moment [2], and which should be available for lenny-backports as well soon. I think the UDD guys are on top of this, but after the packages are in bpo, DSA can easily make the type available in any debian.org PostgreSQL database (and you can of course use it for your databases in other places ;-).
