I recently orphaned xsupplicant after a couple of months of looking for another maintainer, however, the more I think about it the more I feel that I should have just asked for its removal.
It is for all intents and purposes dead upstream, and these days I know of no situation where wpasupplicant isn't a better choice. It also just picked up an FTBFS bug (although that looks like a simple fix).
