I am now running ALSA 0.9+0beta7-1 and I am finally able to get saytime to say the time.
The only thing I had to do was to ln -s /dev/dsp /dev/audio. Unfortunately, the sound quality is very distorted. But at least it's better than a blurp. Thomas
