Package: 9menu Version: 1.4-10 A friend and I were also having the prerm/postinst problem with 9menu and came to the same conclusion as the original submitter, that the problem was the missing "#!/bin/sh -e" line. He rebuilt the package with this line added in the prerm and postinst scripts and the problem disappeared.
We don't know the proper way to submit a bugfix, not being regular developers, so he's posted the repaired version on his webpage as http://www.ugcs.caltech.edu/~rafi/9menu_1.4-10_i386.deb (Also, put it up with an incremented subversion, http://www.ugcs.caltech.edu/~rafi/9menu_1.4-11_i386.deb but don't really know how these things work, so whatever.)
