I've seen a complaint in a newsgroup (unfortuantely not submitted as a
bug report) that the version of Leafnode in potato does not work
correctly from a fresh install - it creates a news spool directory to
which the program can't write. I've tried to reproduce this on my own
systems but failed, but I'd like to make sure it's not something wierd
about my systems that makes it work for me so I'd be greatful if someone
could give a fresh potato install of Leafnode a spin.

Something like this should show the problem if it exists:

   Install & configure package
Try to read a group and get a placeholder message
Run "fetchnews" as root or news to get new news
Go back to the group and see if there are any readable real articles

Thanks for any help.
