Subject: xinetd: wrong sequence code for links in /etc/rc?.d
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
X-Mailer: bug 3.1.7

Package: xinetd
Version: 2.2.1-8

During installation xinetd diverts /etc/init.d/netbase, which starts
portmap and inetd using a sequence code of 18. /etc/init.d/xinetd is
installed using a sequence code of 20. This leads to the situation,
that the portmapper (required e.g. by ypbind) is started to late
(e.g. after ypbind, which results in
ypbind[2576]: Unable to register (YPBINDPROG, YPBINDVERS, udp).).

Hi people,

All these problems you reported against Debian xinetd package
are fixed now. Please upgrade, if you can.

In case you wondered, the bugs haven't been closed until now because the
package maintainer wasn't around, and the package is in fact orphaned. I am
doing this as a member of the quality assurance group.

Thanks for reporting...
