I think these comparisons are flawed. This is much more akin to a vi clone and a .exrc: I expect a vi clone to read .exrc . Netscape and mozilla share a large codebase, and mozilla is being hacked upon by folks from netscape, so I don't expect to see problems by them using the same directory. When the potential for problems arises, I'm sure mozilla will switch to a directory of its own. I'll simply leave this report open as a regular bug, to be fixed when a mozilla maintainer steps forward.
