The value set by AC_PROG_CPP is "gcc -E" even when g++ has been detected. Since gcc can't see the c++ header files included by egcs for g++, this fails when preprocessing files that #include those c++ files. I think the best fix for this would be to have AC_PROG_CPP set the value to "$CXX -E" if the c++ compiler has been detected or "$CC -E" otherwise.
