Package: zfs-fuse
Version: 0.7.0-25+b1
Severity: minor
As illustrated in for example [1], to have installed both the kernel
module and the FUSE versions of ZFS is problematic, as the two are at
very different versions (0.7 and 2.1 respectively) and zfs-fuse has
limited support for many features added in the interim.
There does, however, currently not seem to be anything preventing
doing so by mistake on Debian Bookworm, resulting in unclear errors
and potentially an inability to access data by normal means until the
situation is resolved by the administrator.
Please consider setting up the packages so as to make installing both
the OpenZFS and ZFS-FUSE implementations on the same system difficult,
possibly by adding mutual Breaks: to the packages in question.
NOTE: This bug report probably applies equally to both zfs-dkms AND
zfs-fuse; however, I don't see any simply way to lodge the same bug
report against more than one package, hence reporting the bug against
the package the installation of which risks causing a more immediate
problem. (Importing an older pool when using a newer ZFS
implementation is generally unproblematic; importing a newer or
upgraded pool using an older ZFS implementation can be problematic
depending on usage, as illustrated for example in [1] and other
messages in that discussion thread.)
