Package: vzdump
Version: 1.2.6-1
Severity: normal
File: /usr/sbin/vzdump
If I log in into vz virtual machine via vzctl enter then vzdump
can't backup that machine and that's normal:
INFO: Can not suspend container: Resource temporarily unavailable
INFO: Error: foreign process 7313/16471(vzctl) inside CT (e.g. vzctl enter or
vzctl exec).
However, vzdump does not return error code when this error happens, so the
chain of
shell commands like this
/usr/sbin/vzdump --suspend --compress --dumpdir /mnt/ftp/vz-$1/ --all
--stdexcludes --maxfiles $MAXF $EXCL &&
echo OK
will return OK even if vzdump fails to backup virtual machine. Thus
forgotten/frozen
vzctl exec blocks whole backup process silently and backup script does not
backup
without reporting any problems.
vzdump should return some error code if it fails, or provide some other means
to notify that
backup did not succeed.
