Docdiff currently reports all changes in a file, including whitespace changes.
This crouds out important changes. For example, if you add one word to a
paragraph, rejustifying the document could mean the entire paragraph gets
flagged as being changed.
This patch
http://www.econ.upenn.edu/~clausen/computing/docdiff-patch
makes docdiff ignore whitespace changes. This second patch
http://www.econ.upenn.edu/~clausen/computing/docdiff-wordwrap-patch
makes this change optional through a new --wordwrap option, which is the
new default. (The old behaviour can be accessed with --word. I think it makes
sense to leave the old behaviour as an option for people who don't word-wrap
their text documents. These people would suffer much less whitespace change
pollution.)

The patches were sent are not available anymore.
Upstream has a ToDo list with:
Incorporate ignore space patch.
If you still have interesting to help, the patches can be send as a
issue on upstream github page.
