Nono, the bug is there: I can easily replicate it with a clean chroot. The reason of the bug is: # grep PKGPYTHONDIR /usr/sbin/mock PKGPYTHONDIR="/var/lib/python-support/python2.5/mock" that obviously point to a wrong directory. if I change that to /usr/share/pyshared/mock/plugins/ (where root_cache.py lives) it works fine. Now I need to find a way to pass that thru automake magic.
