Hi,

You’re right. I’ve already removed the /blurb/ package from mentors.debian.net. I’ve made it pass the Salsa tests, and for now, I’m only keeping the code on Salsa.

As for the free-threaded version of Python 3.14, I haven’t contacted the Debian CPython team yet, because my plan is to first build and test it myself — I don’t want to cause new issues for others.

I checked https://salsa.debian.org/cpython-team and it seems they don’t have similar plans, so I decided to give it a try on my own.

Thanks to the upstream work, building a free-threaded version isn’t that complicated — I’m currently working on fixing seven failing tests.

Thanks

This still strikes me as the wrong approach.

By the way: are you in touch with the Debian Python team? (core interpreter, not modules and applications) I wonder if they have plans to build a free-threaded package. It seems like a lot
of work to do that on your own.
